Members
of The Builth Balkan Crew returned to Romania in early May to finish
the extension to the orphanage for children with HIV/Aids in
Ighisul-Nous, Sibiu, Romania in association with Love, Light, Romania.
Travelling overland in lorries, helped through Hungary after intervention
by Rhodri Morgan, First Minister for Wales, and Peter Hain, Secretary
of State for Wales, they left Builth on May 8th. Unfortunately Fred
Ryan was taken ill and couldn't make the trip. They were met later in
the week by the rest of the crew who had flown out (pictured left).
BBC Wales sent out a camera man, and we hope to have a video available
for download soon. Please look at our sponsors page to see a list of
the people who helped make this possible.
The
work on the extension to the hospice was completed, as can be seen in
the photo on the right. The extension will allow the existing residents
to each have their own room and provide further space for respite and
day care facilities.
Although the Hospice is built, we are still in need of funds to pay
some
of the costs involved. Please visit our Donate
page if you can help in
any way.
Please look through our
site and leave any comments in our Guestbook.
Over £1000 was raised at the recent concert in Builth Wells. You
can read about this and other fund raising activities in our events
section. We have a list of materials needed on the Plans
page, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Love Light Romania is a
Romanian registered non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated
to caring for neglected children with the target group being those suffering
with hiv/aids. The charity was formed in 1997 and since May 2000 has
been established in Medias Romania.
Two houses provide permanent and respite accommodation to children sick
with the hiv/aids virus; home care support allows children to be cared
for in the family home. Needy children living in poverty rely on the
services of Love Light Romania and we understand that children who suffer
social and emotional problems are victims. The aim of Love Light Romania
is to improve the life of each child in need who turns to us, with no
discrimination by social status. The completion of the hospice unit
will enable us to give special care to terminally ill children and their
families suffering the final stages of the aids virus, and extending
the buildings at the 'Sanctuary' will provide further accommodation
for children living with hiv/aids.
